At the end of the Summer Team’s term, we all gathered for a special goodbye party! We began with an informal ceremony, thanking them for their service and affirming them in their contributions and growth.
Jay and the Summer Team leader, Nyamal, prepared awards for each person with character traits noted throughout the summer to share during this time. (And Carissa made some fun paper plate awards as well!)
The team also had a chance to say goodbye to their mentors. Here are some pictures of the Summer Team with their mentors, a valuable component of the summer experience! The mentors had, and hopefully continue to have, a positive impact in these young peoples’ lives as they served this summer! They met weekly throughout the summer, and the mentors were invited to attend each Friday team meal.
This was also a time to say goodbye to the hosts. These were two of the housing arrangements provided by two of The Bridge Leadership Council members. Nyamal and Nyawargak lived with Nettens, and Hannah and Krislyn with Howard.
We finished up with lunch together! Then, the team headed to the Centers for more treats and another going away party with the neighborhood kids. The next morning, those who could attend loaded up the vans and drove to the Okoboji Bible Conference, spending their final days there as a team.
