Oh, we’ve seen some hard days, Lord –
We’ve waned in the desert,
lost our way in the forest,
lumbered through a whiteout churning.
But there’s no sand, no trees, no mounds of snow-
not that anyone can see anyway.
Because no one can see our walk but You, Lord.
No one can see the sting that burns us as a relentless sun.
the confusion that makes one tree look just like the other.
the fear that stops our breath, dead-cold.
Lord, no one can see our walk but You.
Oh, we’ve seen some hard days, Lord,
but You come in as a promise
and we hang on. For where else would we go, Lord?
After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the Twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” John 6:66-69
You have the words of life that swallow our pain.
We stand in the desert, refreshed.
We stand in the forest, found.
We stand in the blizzard, ignited.
they aren’t leaving us
but neither are You
and You have the words of life that swallow our pain.
“… so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.” 2 Corinthians 5:4
