Book Journeys at Front Porch, Inspired are intentional readings of books relating to faith, living on mission, and “embracing the everyday divine.”
Plan for Book Journeys
- The book is chosen and announced in advance on the sidebar. Feel free to make book suggestions any time for an upcoming book journey.
- The Book Journey begins with a book review.
- Daily quotes/short excerpts from that book are posted on the Front Porch, Inspired Facebook page and on my Twitter feed. Feel free to follow along and discuss the quotes.
- Once a week, a summary/reaction of a couple chapters of the book will be posted, until we’ve journeyed through the whole book together. Please comment/discuss that week’s section of reading
Here’s the plan for our current Book Journey!
“Interrupted follows the author’s messy journey through life and church and into living on mission. Snatching Jen from the grip of her consumer life, God began asking her questions like, “What is really the point of My Church? What have I really asked of you?” She was far too busy doing church than being church, even as a pastor’s wife, an author of five Christian books, and a committed believer for 26 years. She discovered she had missed the point.
Christ brought Jen and her family to a place of living on mission by asking them tough questions, leading them through Scripture, and walking together with them on the path. Interrupted invites readers to take a similar journey.” (taken from Jen’s page here.)
